Research peptides explained — what they are, how they work, and what the science shows.

WHAT ARE RESEARCH PEPTIDES?
Peptides are short chains of amino acids — the same building blocks that make up proteins in your body. Research peptides are lab-synthesized versions of naturally occurring peptides, produced to identical or near-identical structure for study in laboratory settings.
They are sold as Research Use Only (RUO) compounds, meaning they are intended for in vitro study and laboratory research — not for human consumption.
The research peptide space has grown dramatically since 2020, driven by interest in longevity science, metabolic health, tissue regeneration, and performance optimization. Thousands of peer-reviewed studies have been published on these compounds.

THE COMPOUNDS WE CARRY
RETATRUTIDE
The most advanced metabolic research peptide available. A triple receptor agonist (GIP + GLP-1 + Glucagon) developed by Eli Lilly. Phase 3 TRIUMPH trials showed 28.7% average body weight reduction at 68 weeks. Currently the highest-demand compound in the research space.
Best for research into: Metabolic function · Weight regulation · Liver fat · Visceral adiposity
BPC-157
The #1 bestselling research peptide globally. Over 500 peer-reviewed preclinical studies. Derived from a protein naturally occurring in gastric juice. Research has focused extensively on tissue repair, angiogenesis, and gut function.
Best for research into: Tendon and ligament repair · Muscle healing · Gut health · Anti-inflammatory pathways
GHK-CU (COPPER PEPTIDE)
A naturally occurring tripeptide that declines 60% from age 20 to 60. Influences over 4,000 human genes. Broad Institute analysis shows it activates DNA repair and collagen synthesis genes while suppressing inflammatory mediators.
Best for research into: Collagen synthesis · Skin regeneration · Wound healing · Anti-aging pathways
TESAMORELIN
A GHRH analog that is the basis for FDA-approved Egrifta. Stimulates natural pituitary GH secretion without suppressing the body's feedback axis. Research has shown significant visceral fat reduction and body composition improvements.
Best for research into: Growth hormone regulation · Visceral fat · Body composition · Cognitive function
CJC-1295 + IPAMORELIN
The classic GH optimization stack. Two compounds targeting entirely different receptors — GHRH and GHSR — producing synergistic GH pulses 3–8x above baseline. Ipamorelin is uniquely selective — no cortisol or prolactin stimulation.
Best for research into: Growth hormone pulsatility · Recovery · Sleep · Body composition
MT-2 (MELANOTAN II)
A synthetic analog of alpha-MSH originally developed at the University of Arizona. Activates MC1R, MC3R, and MC4R receptors. Research has covered melanogenesis, appetite regulation, and inflammatory pathways.
Best for research into: Melanogenesis · Melanocortin pathways · Appetite regulation · Photoprotection

PEPTIDE RESEARCH 101
HOW ARE PEPTIDES ADMINISTERED IN RESEARCH?
In laboratory settings, lyophilized peptide powder is reconstituted with bacteriostatic water before use. Standard research protocols specify dosing, frequency, and duration based on the specific compound and research objective.
WHAT IS LYOPHILIZED POWDER?
Lyophilization (freeze-drying) is the standard preservation method for research peptides. It removes moisture while preserving molecular structure, extending shelf life and maintaining stability. All Bala Peptides products are lyophilized.
WHAT IS HPLC TESTING?
High-Performance Liquid Chromatography is the gold standard analytical method for verifying peptide purity. It separates compounds in a mixture and measures their concentration, confirming that what is in the vial matches what is on the label. We test every batch.
WHAT IS A COA?
A Certificate of Analysis is a document from an independent third-party laboratory confirming the identity, purity, and concentration of a compound. Every Bala Peptides product ships with a COA available upon request.
STORAGE
Research peptides should be stored lyophilized at -20°C away from light and moisture. Once reconstituted, store at 4°C and use within 30 days. Never freeze reconstituted peptides.
